Concept Refinement

AICE Media Studies AS Portfolio Project Concept Refinement Fall 2020 CATEGORY DETAILS Film OR Magazine Film Genre Thriller/Drama Target Audience (Be specific) Young people What is your concept? (Be thorough & specific. Review the links on Blackboard) Young man or woman struggling with a constant melody on loop in their head. At the beginning of the film the melody will be a happy melody with what is being seen on film as a person enjoying their day. As the film progresses things will get much darker. I plan on pitching the melody down a little bit as the film moves on to give the melody a darker outlook. Creativity and Genre

Creativity and Genre             Creativity is arguably the most important part of our project. Creativity is what will get us a passing grade, you cannot have something generic that uses classics clichés. Recently in class we watched a Ted Talk about creativity called the Theory of Creativity. During the Ted Talk Duncan Wardle talks about the “river of thinking” this river is just our regular way of thinking which is our barrier to creativity. Wardle also asked the chef to design the building, all the architects made something regular but the chef made something that was out of the “river of thinking”. Duncan is telling us that we need to think differently when approaching new ideas and this directly correlates to our project we are working on. We can’t think about this project in a lateral way we need to think ...

Decision Day

For what I want to do I do not see myself using Indesign very much unless there is a certain frame I want to edit. Premier pro allows you to mess with the volume of music throughout the film, this will be very helpful towards my idea. My idea is based off of audio to help convey what is happening on screen. The article “Our Place in the Universe: The Importance of Story and Storytelling in the Classroom”, talks about how important storytelling is and how to tell a great story. The article tells us that the brain experiences stories the same as if you were in the narrative. My goal for my project is to have the viewer experience the same emotions being conveyed on screen. I will do this through carefully thought out scenes, using what I le...
