Post Production 2

            Today I started to work on the last final edits of my film, I worked a little bit more on the audio specifically with the music so that it can transition in better and I also worked on editing the way the “killer” sees. I first started off with picking when I should have the scene switch between the actors talking in the car and the killer stalking them from another car. I carefully picked out two moments when I think it worked well with my restrictions. The first time you see the killer stalking the car is right after the scene of him stalking them as they walk away. The next time you see him stalking the car is when the light turns green and the car starts to turn, as well as this being the best time so you can not see who is in the car but it is also a perfect time to cut the video because one of the actors stops talking making for the perfect time for a cut. When the scene starts again in the car you can tell that the conversation has moved on and the viewer missed some of the conversation that was not important. These two stalking moments were the best picks because you could not see who was in the car. I also worked on taking away some of the color to the stalking scenes to make the killer look like he is only looking at the actors and to make it feel like he just wants to kill. I worked on the first stalking scene where the “killer” is following the actors from behind. I made the exposure -1, vibrance -77, tint balance to -18.6, and made the saturation 88. I also turned down the midtones down, shadows down, and increased the highlights. I also messed around with the vignette which I did not know what it was going to do at first but ended up making what I wanted done a lot easier. I turned up the amount to 3, kept the midpoint at 0, made the roundness -38.1 and made the feather 38.1. After all that I turned these settings into a preset and added the effects to all of the stalking scenes except at the end when the killer is hiding in the bushes and then he comes out with a machete. After all of this messing around with the colors it turned out looking like the killer was watching them and ignoring all of his surroundings. This helps make the killer look like he does not care about anything else other than killing and that he has his sights set on killing these two kids. Also changing the color of the clip helped make it so that you can not see into the back of the car. This was a huge issue I had and I knew that I needed to get the colors down perfectly so the viewer can still see what is going on but cannot see through the back of the car.

  Dialogue Today I worked on the dialogue with my actors so they will have a better feel of what to say and how to sound natural. I told them that in some clips they can just tell a story of something that may have happened in their life recently. I believe using a story that may have actually happened will sound and feel like they are actual people living their lives. We picked out a few stories that may be good, for example, a story about one of the actor’s actual jobs and how he feels like he may have gotten fired. Another story is of a friend of one of the actor’s brothers and how she helped him clean up some urine off the floor after a party. I also told the actors that they can curse, told them this because I want the dialogue to feel as natural as possible and teenagers curse all the time. Post Production 1

  Post Production 1             The first  thing I started off with changing was the running scene I had; in this scene, I ran at the actors as they were walking away. My original intention was to add suspense to make it look like they were about to be killed but then it cuts to them talking in the car. As one of my peers pointed out this scene felt out of place so I decided to cut the scene from my movie entirely. The next thing I worked on was making the title to the movie bigger than my name at the end. Of course, this was very easy to do all I had to do was click on the title and stretch it out, as well as making my name smaller. The next thing I did was add the actor’s names during the first scene. It starts off with Dylan in the car and as soon as the scene starts his name fades in, then once Nick enters the car his name fades out and Nick’s name fades in. Filming

  Filming             Today I began filming my movie, I should be able to film all my scenes in two hours. What will take us the longest is the driving we will have to do throughout the day but there are some scenes that are filmed inside the car so that works out best for us. We had to redo the first scene because one of the actors turned on music that is copyrighted and I can not put in the film but other than that the first scene went off without a hitch. After that first scene, I secretly filmed some scenes of the two actors just casually talking to each other. I think I might be able to put a few of those conversations in the film. There were more people at Celery Fields that I would have liked but no one bothered us while we filmed so the people were not an issue like I thought they might be.
